Job Summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Project Superintendent to lead complex data center construction projects from its Iowa Business Unit. This role directs field operations, establishes jobsite safety culture, and partners with project management to deliver successful project outcomes.

Project Details

The position is based in Des Moines, Iowa, and supports traveling data center construction assignments. The work involves commercial general contracting, subcontractor coordination, schedule management, budget oversight, and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Lead subcontractors, field personnel, and daily construction activities.
  • Maintain jobsite safety and enforce company safety requirements.
  • Develop project schedules, resource plans, work processes, and two-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Monitor work quality, timelines, budgets, specifications, and contract compliance.
  • Inspect work, resolve field issues, and coordinate subcontractor performance.
  • Communicate with project managers, owners, designers, engineers, vendors, and trade partners.
  • Support major subcontractor buyout and selection.
  • Maintain cost reports, project documentation, and required records.
  • Mentor and develop field team members while building productive project relationships.

Required Experience

  • At least 8 years of Project Superintendent experience.
  • Commercial construction experience with a general contractor is required.
  • Data center construction experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing teams.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and understand construction methods and materials.
  • Strong organization, leadership, communication, relationship-building, and business skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, plus the ability to learn project-specific software.
