Senior Project Superintendent - Data Center (Traveling)

Job Summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Project Superintendent to lead field operations for a large hyperscale data center project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role oversees complex construction work, establishes the jobsite safety culture, and partners with project leadership to deliver successful project outcomes.

Project Details

The position supports a large-scale data center construction project within The Weitz Company's Iowa business unit.

Responsibilities

• Lead subcontractors, field crews, and daily construction activities.
• Manage safety, quality, schedule, budget, staffing, and project documentation.
• Develop project schedules, resource plans, and two-week look-ahead schedules.
• Inspect work, resolve field issues, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractor performance, buyout support, and contract requirements.
• Maintain cost reports and communicate with project managers, owners, designers, engineers, vendors, and trade partners.
• Support team development and foster productive internal and external relationships.

Required Experience

• At least 8 years of Project Superintendent experience.
• Commercial construction experience with a general contractor.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and developing teams.
• Data center construction experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to interpret construction documents and understand construction methods and materials.
• Strong organization, leadership, communication, business, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, plus the ability to learn project-specific software.
