Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead water and wastewater treatment design across mining operations worldwide. This role sits within a 200+ person process engineering team and offers strong career growth, employee ownership through an ESOP, and a hybrid work environment.

Project Details

Work focuses on industrial water treatment for global mining clients — covering raw water supply, mine contact water, process wastewater, and effluent systems across the full mine lifecycle from feasibility and permitting through detailed design, construction, and closure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process engineering design of water and wastewater treatment and delivery systems for mining clients.
  • Evaluate, select, and integrate treatment technologies including biological systems, membrane systems, and solids handling.
  • Prepare process engineering deliverables including PFDs, water balances, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with hydrology, hydrogeology, and civil teams on integrated water resource solutions across mine life cycles.
  • Supervise and review work of junior engineers.
  • Support business development, proposal writing, and client presentations.
  • Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 11 years of related process engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required or active pursuit of licensure.
  • Strong understanding of mine water quality challenges including metals, salinity, sulfate, and variable flow conditions.
  • Experience preparing complex process deliverables and leading smaller engineering teams.
  • GoldSim modeling experience preferred.
