Structural Field Engineer - Texas

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Structural Field Engineer for a project-only assignment supporting construction of a combined cycle power generation facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. The role provides technical direction in the field and helps maintain safe, quality-driven progress.

Project Details

The assignment involves combined cycle power generation construction, including power island and balance-of-plant scopes with structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and related equipment interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract requirements for subcontractors and craft personnel.
• Help resolve design, schedule, materials, quality, and safety issues with contractors and site leadership.
• Manage Requests for Information, daily field records, document updates, drawing markups, and conformed construction records.
• Review quantities and support planning, installed progress tracking, inspections, testing, turnover, and commissioning coordination.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, quality, materials, and commissioning teams while promoting site safety.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 6 years of construction management experience on similar facilities.
• Professional Engineer registration, or a degree with 4 years of design experience and 6 years of construction experience.
• Structural field engineering and combined cycle power construction experience are preferred.
• Experience with material takeoffs, field estimates, quantity reviews, and major power generation equipment is preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors and in confined or uneven construction areas, including physically demanding shifts of up to 12 hours.
