Structural Staff Engineering Technician Advanced Power Generation

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support multidisciplinary Advanced Power Generation project teams. The role develops structural engineering deliverables under general supervision and may provide technical guidance to other professionals.

Project Details

Support the design and documentation of structural foundations and steel systems for complex industrial and commercial power-generation infrastructure using modern CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain structural models, drawings, details, and other technical deliverables.
• Use Bentley Open Buildings, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, and related digital design tools.
• Apply project standards, codes, document-control requirements, and company quality procedures.
• Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and project records.
• Coordinate design information with other disciplines and review deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical direction, help define work assignments, maintain schedules, and support field or plant start-up activities when needed.

Required Experience

• Typically at least five years of related work experience.
• Diploma or certificate preferred; an associate degree in drafting or engineering design technology is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, structural detailing, CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling practices.
• Ability to work in an office setting with extended computer use and perform standing, walking, crouching, and grasping during site visits.

Compensation and Benefits

The listed annual compensation range is $74,360-$124,190 for the applicable Colorado office location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, wellness programs, paid time off, holidays, sick time, company-matched 401(k), tuition and adoption reimbursement, and employee stock ownership. Hybrid or flexible work may be available after 90 days at management discretion.
