Substation Manager - Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to lead and grow a Columbus-based engineering team supporting utility and transmission-and-distribution clients nationwide. The manager will guide technical delivery, team development, and execution across engineering-only and EPC projects.

Project Details

The team delivers high-voltage substation projects from 12 kV to 500 kV, including physical substation design, protection and control, and related engineering packages for power delivery work.

Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and manage substation engineers and designers.
• Lead physical substation and protection-and-control design activities.
• Oversee diagrams, layouts, grounding, lightning protection, cable routing, schematics, bills of material, specifications, and construction packages.
• Coordinate civil, structural, transmission, SCADA, and communications disciplines.
• Support planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, constructability reviews, and field issue resolution.
• Improve engineering processes, develop standards, and support proposals and estimating.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of engineering or management experience on substation projects.
• Current P.E. license and a bachelor's or graduate engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction standards, contracts, scheduling, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and team-building abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work independently in a growing, multidisciplinary environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship may be considered in special circumstances.
