Superintendent I & II

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent I or II to coordinate field operations, supervise project teams and trade partners, and support strong customer relationships across complex construction projects.

Project Details

Mortenson delivers builder, developer, and EPC work across markets including sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and other specialized construction sectors. The role may support projects requiring travel of up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, site logistics, and work activities to support project schedules.
• Review construction documents, assess constructability, and coordinate plans with design engineers.
• Develop and manage schedules while collaborating with project partners and other superintendents.
• Lead orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, team development, and performance management.
• Track work progress and task coding, provide coaching, and support career development.
• Manage field safety, quality, risk, and compliance while identifying unfavorable conditions and process improvements.

Required Experience

• Superintendent I requires at least 5 years of construction management or related experience.
• Superintendent II requires at least 8 years of construction management or related experience.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management is accepted; alternatively, 10 years of trade experience may qualify.
• Current driver’s license and ability to manage multiple complex projects from development through closeout.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, construction law and business knowledge, and strong communication and customer service skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $111,400-$167,100 per year for Superintendent I and $130,100-$195,200 per year for Superintendent II, with location-based adjustments in certain offices. The position is eligible for an incentive plan and may include medical, dental, retirement matching, paid leave, insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and wellness benefits.
