This role carries full responsibility for project delivery, including safety, cost, schedule, contracts, team leadership, and owner relationships.

Project Details

The position supports complex automotive and manufacturing construction, including large-scale battery and production facilities. Assignments are based at active project sites rather than the company’s Southfield, Michigan headquarters, with travel and movement between sites required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct project teams and coordinate office, field, superintendent, trade partner, and owner activities.
  • Control budgets, forecasts, reporting, contracts, buyout, purchase orders, billing, cash flow, and change orders.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, manage procurement and long-lead equipment, and apply Lean planning to protect critical milestones.
  • Serve as the owner’s primary contact and support pursuits, preconstruction, design coordination, and commercial decisions.
  • Oversee quality, commissioning, punch lists, warranties, closeout, equipment installation, and production turnover.
  • Mentor project managers, assistant project managers, and project engineers while sharing best practices across teams.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of construction project management experience leading large, complex projects with full cost and schedule accountability.
  • Industrial or manufacturing construction experience; automotive experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, buyout, change management, cost forecasting, drawings, specifications, and equipment installation documents.
  • Proficiency with construction management, scheduling, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience developing project teams and willingness to travel and relocate between assignments.
  • OSHA 30 and other relevant certifications preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Barton Malow offers WeCare Total Rewards covering health, financial planning, family, and wellness programs. The company is privately held and provides the stability of a long-established national contractor.
