Abilene Project Engineer

Job Summary

PCL Buildings Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer in Abilene to support its expanding national data center business. This role assists project leadership with subcontractor coordination, documentation, cost, schedule, quality, and field execution.

Project Details

The position supports PCL’s data center business unit and is associated with the Phoenix Buildings group, with the primary location in Abilene, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Support trade partner relationships, subcontract administration, work scopes, inquiries, and progress tracking.
• Assist with change orders, pricing, and evaluation of cost and schedule effects.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, as-built records, and other project documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, designers, and trade partners on safety, cost, schedule, quality, and constructability.
• Prepare progress claims and estimates while tracking materials, equipment, and purchase orders.
• Help resolve inspection, code, authority, and site coordination issues.
• Contribute to project closeout, including archives, deficiency resolution, warranty documentation, and warranty work.

Required Experience

• One to three years of construction experience in an operational role is preferred.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of construction methods, equipment, drawings, specifications, HSE, quality requirements, materials, and applicable standards.
• Ability to apply basic engineering and problem-solving methods to field challenges.
• Strong communication, organization, planning, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to develop schedules, coordinate subcontracts, manage contract documents, and use Microsoft Office and operational systems.
