Assistant MEP Project Manager

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking an Assistant MEP Project Manager to support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes from estimating through client acceptance. The role partners with project leadership and develops project team members.

Project Details

Mortenson delivers construction and EPC work across markets including sports, renewable energy, data centers, and healthcare. This position supports complex MEP project work and may perform Project Manager duties on smaller projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage MEP cost control, budgets, estimates, schedules, contracts, pay applications, and change documentation.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, trade partners, buyout, and project meetings.
• Lead project team assignments, mentoring, career development, and coordination with field and project engineers.
• Direct 3-D coordination to resolve clashes before installation.
• Manage commissioning, including startup planning, schedules, functional testing, turnover, and training.
• Lead closeout activities and implement quality plans aligned with customer performance requirements.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of related experience, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor.
• Experience supporting complex projects and managing multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of construction law, business practices, Microsoft Office, project applications, and relevant web tools.
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel 100%.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $102,000-$137,700 per year, with higher ranges in select locations.
