Assistant Project Manager - Automation

Job Summary

Interstates is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for its Automation group. This entry-level project leadership role supports project managers and jobsite teams delivering electrical, controls, engineering, instrumentation, and automation work for industrial clients. Training, coaching, and advancement toward a Project Manager role are provided.

Project Details

The role supports automation and related electrical construction projects for industrial facilities. The position may be based from the Sioux Center, Iowa; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; or Omaha, Nebraska office, with travel to project locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and jobsite leadership with project administration and field coordination.
• Manage project control systems, CPM schedules, crew planning, RFIs, submittals, meeting records, and site communications.
• Analyze project controls data, help resolve problems, and support change-order estimates and take-offs.
• Participate in client meetings, trade contractor coordination, monthly project reviews, procurement, and material expediting.
• Promote the company’s safety culture and help maintain organized project delivery.

Required Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, business administration, engineering technology, or construction management.
• Ability to organize projects, prioritize work, adjust project systems, and communicate effectively with clients, peers, and managers.
• Construction, electrical, controls, or automation expertise is not required; the company provides training and development.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $70,000-$80,000 per year, with end-of-fiscal-year incentives and merit increases.
