Assistant Project Manager - Fort Dodge, IA

Job Summary

Interstates is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support electrical construction, engineering, instrumentation, controls, automation, and operational technology projects from its Fort Dodge home base. The role is designed to develop future project leaders through training, coaching, and hands-on collaboration with field teams.

Project Details

Projects support industrial facilities and customer sites, with work spanning electrical construction, instrumentation, automation, controls, and related engineering services.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and jobsite leadership with project administration and field coordination.
• Manage project control systems, CPM schedules, crew planning, RFIs, submittals, meeting records, and site communications.
• Analyze project controls information, support problem solving, and help evaluate alternate delivery methods.
• Prepare estimating takeoffs and change-order analysis.
• Attend client meetings, coordinate with trade contractors, and contribute to monthly project reviews.
• Assist with material and subcontract procurement and expediting.
• Promote the company's safety culture throughout project activities.

Required Experience

• Associate or bachelor's degree in construction engineering, business administration, engineering technology, construction management, or a related field.
• Ability to organize project information, prioritize work, and adapt project systems as needs change.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, teamwork, and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate comfortably with clients, peers, and managers.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $68,000-$78,000 per year.
