Assistant Project Manager - Fort Dodge, IA

Job Summary

Interstates is hiring an Assistant Project Manager based in Fort Dodge to support electrical construction, engineering, instrumentation, controls, automation, and operational technology projects. This development-focused role works closely with project managers, field crews, clients, and trade partners.

Project Details

Support industrial facility projects involving electrical construction, controls, automation, instrumentation, and OT systems. Fort Dodge is the home base, with travel to customer locations up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and jobsite leaders with project administration and field leadership.
• Manage project control systems, CPM schedules, crew planning, RFIs, submittals, meeting records, and site communications.
• Review project data, help resolve issues, and evaluate alternate approaches for successful delivery.
• Prepare estimating takeoffs, change-order analysis, monthly review materials, and procurement updates.
• Attend client meetings, coordinate with trade contractors, and help expedite materials and subcontracts.
• Promote the company’s safety culture throughout project activities.

Required Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, engineering technology, business administration, or a related field.
• Ability to organize projects, prioritize work, and adapt project systems as needs change.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, teamwork, and client-facing communication skills.
• Construction industry experience is not required; training, coaching, and development are provided.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $68,000-$78,000 per year. The company supports a path toward Project Manager responsibilities within two to three years.
