Job Summary

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is hiring an entry-level Building Mechanical Engineer for its Kiewit Architecture and Engineering group in Lenexa, Kansas. The role supports building MEP design and develops technical capabilities within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Project Details

The team delivers EPC and design-build engineering for industrial, water, and related facilities, including offices, server rooms, warehouses, industrial buildings, and administration spaces.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design, equipment sizing, selection, controls, and documentation under the direction of senior engineers.
• Prepare drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and power systems.
• Assist with bid reviews, construction administration, equipment submittals, and installation compliance checks.
• Review 3D models for coordination, interference detection, and constructability.
• Contribute to company design standards, tools, and project deliverables.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an MEP focus.
• Entry-level profile with 0–2 years of industry experience; GPA above 3.0 preferred.
• Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP is a plus, as is a passed FE exam.
• Strong communication skills, dependable attendance, deadline discipline, and the ability to work safely with multiple engineering disciplines.
