Staff Electrical Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and provide technical expertise for water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Kansas City region or other Midwest locations.

Project Details

The role supports regulated utility and government infrastructure programs, including water treatment, wastewater treatment, energy optimization, power system studies, construction support, and facility commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for water and wastewater facilities.
• Advise engineering and technician teams on client standards and detailed design requirements.
• Provide technical consultation on power distribution and plant electrical systems.
• Support client development, utility coordination, supplier submittal reviews, construction issue resolution, and equipment startup.
• Coordinate with clients and remote design teams on instrumentation and control work.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• At least five years of related experience, with five to eight years of electrical design, planning, or construction services preferred.
• Professional Engineer license in Kansas, Missouri, or another U.S. jurisdiction.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage distribution equipment, variable frequency drives, and standby diesel generators.
• Knowledge of PLCs, network configuration, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and fiber optic cabling.
• Water/wastewater consulting and client-facing business development experience are preferred.
• Power system analysis experience with SKM, ETAP, or similar software is a plus.
