Graduate Engineer, Structural Substation

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to support substation and critical infrastructure projects. The position is intended for an early-career engineer and is based in Overland Park, Kansas, with relocation options to Ann Arbor, Michigan, or Orlando, Florida.

Project Details

The role supports structural engineering work for substation infrastructure, including design documentation, equipment and materials evaluation, engineering studies, calculations, and coordination with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering standards, design guides, codes, and company procedures to assigned work.
• Prepare basic calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and limited-scope studies.
• Research equipment and material options and develop recommendations.
• Collect and manage engineering data while supporting schedule, budget, quality, and continuous-improvement objectives.
• Coordinate with supervisors, project leadership, internal clients, and other disciplines.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Foundational knowledge of structural engineering principles, applicable standards, construction practices, and constructability.
• Ability to complete applicable pre-employment screening and onboarding requirements.
