Cascade Civil Superintendent Southwest

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a civil superintendent to supervise field construction operations for complex heavy civil and transportation projects. The role is based in the Southwest District and requires hands-on leadership in the field, with assignments determined by project needs.

Project Details

The Southwest District delivers highways, bridges, runways, terminals, transit systems, water and wastewater treatment facilities, dams, canals, tunnels, and power projects. The home base may be Phoenix, Arizona, with current or future assignments in Idaho Falls, Cascade, Idaho, Utah, Texas, New Mexico, and other states.

Responsibilities

• Direct craft activities through foremen while managing productivity, safety, quality, and schedule performance.
• Connect field engineering with craft teams to support compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, project staff, and district leadership to maintain workflow.
• Address employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling challenges, escalating issues when appropriate.
• Support schedule development and determine labor, material, and equipment needs.
• Apply project safety, attendance, conduct, and workplace policies consistently.

Required Experience

• At least five years of construction experience, including three or more years supervising heavy civil work.
• Heavy civil construction knowledge and advanced understanding of construction disciplines, scheduling, cost control, safety requirements, drawings, and project documentation.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance and collaborate effectively with field and project teams.
• Strong communication, organization, initiative, ethics, safety awareness, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel, work overtime and weekends as project demands require, and maintain reliable attendance.
