Construction Manager

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Construction Manager to coordinate field construction activities, lead superintendents, and support safe, timely, cost-effective project delivery. The role is based in Overland Park, Kansas, with employee-owner benefits and no relocation eligibility.

Project Details

Work supports a construction portfolio spanning power, water, grid, and industrial markets, including EPC projects and power-generation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate subcontractor and direct-hire superintendent activities against project schedules, contract requirements, safety standards, cost targets, and quality expectations.
• Implement the construction execution plan, supervise and mentor superintendents, and report productivity and schedule trends.
• Manage recovery plans, completion walkdowns, startup handoffs, punch-list closeout, equipment budgets, overtime, and construction reporting.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and support materials review, change management, payment tracking, and client interface.
• Resolve field safety and quality issues, serve as the site safety representative when needed, and stand in for the Project Field Manager when required.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables and manufacturer service technicians while championing continuous improvement.

Required Experience

• 18 or more years of construction supervisory experience, including at least 5 years as a construction manager.
• Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant field experience.
• OSHA training preferred.
• Knowledge of EPC delivery, constructability, project controls, construction technology, budgeting, risk management, and construction project management systems.
• Ability to lead teams, manage conflicts, communicate effectively, solve problems, and work in demanding construction environments.
