Data Center Project Manager

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Data Center Project Manager to lead medium and large data center development, design, EPC, and commissioning projects. This employee-owner role manages multidisciplinary teams, project delivery, client relationships, and commercial outcomes.

Project Details

The Technology, Commercial & Industrial team supports data centers, advanced manufacturing, gigafactories, bio/ag technology, and distributed infrastructure. Data center work may include site development, detailed design, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, and immersion cooling systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout.
• Manage scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, contractual compliance, risk, and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, startup, commissioning, and third-party contributors.
• Staff and lead multidisciplinary project teams while developing and mentoring professionals.
• Maintain client relationships and support repeat business, estimates, proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Identify and resolve design, scheduling, change-management, quality, and commercial issues.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; engineering or construction management education is preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant data center industry experience preferred.
• Experience delivering projects through analysis, design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Knowledge of contract terms, risk, pricing, payment terms, and project controls.
• Data center design-build, GMP, and lump-sum experience is desirable.
• Ability to travel to client sites and complete applicable pre-employment screening.

Compensation and Benefits

The posting lists jurisdiction-specific compensation ranges of $149,188-$253,617 for California and $126,236-$214,599 for Colorado; compensation for the Kansas-based posting is determined by qualifications, experience, location, and other applicable factors. Benefits include health coverage, paid time off, retirement matching, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, flexible work options, and employee ownership through a 100% ESOP. A performance-based bonus may be available.
