Design Build Project Director

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Design Build Project Director to lead large-scale water and wastewater design-build projects, with a focus on the Texas market. This role oversees the full project lifecycle — from business development through construction completion — and reports at a senior leadership level.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of large EPC/design-build water projects, including safety, cost, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Lead business development efforts including proposal development, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Oversee engineering managers and integrate engineering, procurement, construction, and startup activities.
• Drive project financial performance including budgeting, invoicing, and performance reviews.
• Mentor and develop multi-discipline project teams and identify candidates to grow the Black & Veatch team.

Required Experience

• 20+ years of active water/wastewater experience with demonstrated leadership in the Texas market.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license and a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• Strong understanding of budgets, financial metrics, and contract negotiation including terms, risks, and pricing.
