Electrical Lead Project Engineer Power

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking an Electrical Lead Project Engineer to provide field leadership and technical oversight for electrical work on EPC power projects. The position serves as the electrical subject-matter expert, connecting site operations, design engineering, subcontractors, and project management.

Project Details

The role supports TIC Power District projects, including Entergy work and other large-scale power, utility, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure construction assignments. Teams may relocate to different project locations based on business needs and employee development goals.

Responsibilities

• Direct electrical installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and field engineering activities.
• Provide technical guidance on power distribution, grounding, lighting, controls, protection systems, and related equipment.
• Interpret drawings and specifications, review designs for constructability, and coordinate electrical work with other disciplines.
• Troubleshoot field issues, monitor progress, support procurement reviews, and help protect project schedules.
• Lead inspections, testing, commissioning, turnover documentation, and equipment records for client acceptance.
• Promote site safety and address hazards involving LOTO, energized work, and arc-flash boundaries.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5–10 or more years of electrical field engineering, construction, commissioning, or related experience.
• Experience leading field engineering teams on large-scale projects and knowledge of electrical power, protection, and industrial control systems.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Experience using multimeters, insulation resistance testers, relay test sets, and grounding testers.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and OSHA requirements.
• Valid driver's license, site-access eligibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work safely on active construction sites.
