Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking an EPC Project Director to lead large, complex advanced power generation projects from engineering and procurement through construction, startup, and commissioning. The role is based in Overland Park, Kansas, with substantial travel and responsibility for integrated project delivery.
Project Details
The Power Providers team delivers energy-generation infrastructure for utilities, independent power producers, and emerging power-market participants. Projects involve complex EPC execution, field construction, commissioning, and new or advanced technologies.
Responsibilities
- Own project safety, quality, cost, schedule, commercial performance, contractual compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Lead integrated engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, commercial, quality, and safety teams.
- Direct project managers and construction leaders on execution priorities, issue resolution, and recovery strategies.
- Coordinate third-party contributors and ensure successful staffing and delivery of contracted scope.
- Manage client relationships, support complex negotiations, and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Assess and mitigate construction productivity, labor, subcontractor, site execution, schedule, and commercial risks.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Typically 15 years of relevant experience, including leadership of large EPC projects and construction execution.
- Experience with field leadership, construction planning, subcontractor and labor management, project controls, schedule and cost recovery, commercial risk, and client-facing delivery.
- Successful candidates must complete applicable background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks.
