Field Engineer

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Field Engineer to support active construction projects through field problem-solving, project coordination, and practical construction management or engineering analysis. The role is based at project sites in Wisconsin, primarily within 90 miles of the Milwaukee office.

Project Details

Mortenson delivers building and EPC work across markets including sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and other complex facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-construction planning, site mobilization, kickoff meetings, and turnover preparation.
• Manage submittals and RFIs through completion using project management systems.
• Review and distribute design and engineering documents.
• Coordinate local service agreements, subcontracts, and purchase agreements.
• Use project best-practice resources for work instructions, quality documentation, and preparation meetings.
• Administer quality assurance and quality control requirements and oversee inventory activities.
• Coordinate work-feature preparation meetings, inspections, and final punch-list inspections.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior construction job-site experience is preferred.
• Current driver’s license required.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, design documents, and other technical instructions.
• Working knowledge of construction management principles, including scheduling and estimating.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet tools, and construction management software.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, multitasking, and active-listening skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range is $78,800-$98,500 per year, with location-based adjustments in certain markets, and eligibility for an incentive plan.
