Field Engineer

Job Summary

Nordic PCL Construction is hiring a Field Engineer to support infrastructure construction work across Hawaii, with opportunities based in Honolulu, Kailua-Kona, or Kihei. The role coordinates field operations, documentation, quality, safety, and trade partner activities.

Project Details

The position supports infrastructure projects serving communities across Hawaii and may involve self-perform work, subcontracted scopes, temporary works, equipment, and construction scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workforce planning with the superintendent and support field execution.
• Maintain project records and assist with RFIs, shop drawings, changes, billings, and document control.
• Support self-perform operations through crew, labor, and quantity tracking.
• Lead or coordinate inspections, orientations, hazard corrections, third-party reviews, and site quality activities.
• Help implement inspection and test plans while maintaining productive relationships with project partners.
• Mentor field engineers, students, and interns.

Required Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Entry-level field engineering or coordination experience is preferred; relevant internships may count.
• Knowledge of construction specifications, methods, self-perform and subcontracted work, equipment, temporary works, and scheduling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical communication with contractors, designers, and inspectors.
• Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment and develop effective partner relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction-related software.

Compensation and Benefits
