Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Field Engineer to support heavy civil transportation projects in its Northwest District. This mid-level role combines field leadership, project administration, engineering support, estimating, and jobsite coordination.

Project Details

The Northwest District delivers heavy civil work involving earthmoving, transportation, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities. Assignments may be located throughout the West Coast, Alaska, or Hawaii, with teams relocated according to project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans and specifications, calculate quantities, support surveying and layout, and compile as-built information.
  • Prepare work plans, work packages, job hazard analyses, reports, RFIs, schedules, and project records.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, deliveries, and field operations while supporting safe and quality execution.
  • Assist with purchase orders, subcontracts, change orders, cost tracking, and project communications.
  • Support estimating through plan reviews, risk identification, historical cost analysis, and material takeoffs.
  • Participate in safety reviews, toolbox meetings, training, and other jobsite safety activities.

Required Experience

  • At least 2 years of construction field experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in engineering and leading engineers, with the ability to analyze plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to access all areas of a construction site and work across changing climates and conditions.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $95,000-$105,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
