M/E Engineer 3 - Commissioning

Job Summary

JE Dunn is seeking an M/E Engineer 3 to support mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems commissioning from preconstruction through project closeout. The position combines field engineering, commissioning documentation, testing, inspections, and coordination with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, automation, life safety, and specialty systems.
• Review design documents, owner project requirements, basis of design, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Help prepare commissioning plans, schedules, specifications, pre-functional checklists, functional performance tests, and integrated systems tests.
• Conduct site walks, equipment readiness inspections, startup coordination, functional testing, and deficiency tracking.
• Verify operations and maintenance manuals, training materials, and turnover documentation.
• Assist with M/E estimates, systems analysis, scopes of work, constructability reviews, bid analysis, and subcontractor selection.
• Coordinate with project teams, trade partners, owners, and other stakeholders while maintaining commissioning records and communications.
• Perform mechanical and electrical field observations and job inspections throughout construction.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Five or more years of construction and/or engineering experience preferred.
• Commissioning accreditation such as ASHRAE CxP, BCA CCP, UW–Madison QCxP, or NEBB CxCP.
• Ability to read plans, drawings, and specifications and familiarity with construction management methods.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills and intermediate MS Office proficiency.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license required.
