Job Summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Senior MEP Project Manager in Charleston to direct complex building-systems work from preconstruction through closeout. The role leads coordination among owners, designers, trade partners, and field teams while protecting quality, schedule, budget, safety, and operational readiness.

Project Details

The position supports large-scale commercial construction in the Charleston and Southeast markets, with potential exposure to healthcare, higher education, life sciences, industrial, mission-critical, and other technically complex facilities. MEP scopes include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and low-voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP design management, preconstruction planning, scope development, procurement, estimating support, and subcontractor selection.
• Coordinate building systems through BIM/VDC workflows, including clash detection and interdisciplinary issue resolution.
• Monitor field installation, equipment procurement, material tracking, startup, sequencing, safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
• Manage risk, forecasts, contingencies, change processes, milestones, and turnover requirements.
• Direct testing, balancing, commissioning, owner training, punch completion, documentation, and final building readiness.
• Support client relationships, pursuits, proposals, interviews, and presentations.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related technical field.
• At least 10 years managing MEP scopes on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrated leadership of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems from preconstruction through commissioning.
• Knowledge of MEP procurement, design coordination, commissioning, turnover, and BIM/VDC delivery.
• Experience with Procore or comparable construction management platforms is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities.
