Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support for conventional power generation projects. This full-time role is based in Overland Park, Kansas, with relocation eligibility and potential hybrid or flexible work arrangements after the first 90 days.
Project Details
Support utility, independent power producer, and other power-generation clients with electrical engineering, procurement, construction, and consulting services.
- Develop electrical drawings, equipment specifications, bills of materials, and engineering calculations.
- Work with one-line and three-line diagrams, motor and breaker control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and power-system studies.
- Use ETAP or SKM for load flow, short-circuit, motor-starting, arc-flash, and protective-relay analyses.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables while managing assigned budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, clients, vendors, and construction teams.
- Attend site meetings, investigate existing conditions, and provide construction support.
- Lead production teams or coordinate multiple disciplines as assigned, review junior staff work, and delegate tasks.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, client support, and assistance with business-development pursuits.
- Support quality-program compliance, process improvement, resource coordination, and selected administrative duties.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent engineering experience.
- At least five years of related professional experience.
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record requirements where applicable.
- Experience with ETAP or SKM, AutoCAD, ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, and electrical engineering deliverables is relevant to the role.
