Job Summary
PCL Industrial Construction Co. is hiring a Project Engineer to support industrial construction projects in Houston, Texas. Working alongside project managers and superintendents, this role covers scheduling, subcontract coordination, document control, change management, and field oversight on projects valued from $3M to $50M.
Responsibilities
- Perform quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress and change management.
- Coordinate with trade contractors day-to-day and administer complex subcontracts.
- Maintain project document control, including RFIs and shop drawings.
- Manage the change order process — pricing, negotiating, and assessing cost and schedule impact.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to evaluate alternative construction methods and materials.
- Oversee material and equipment inventory and expedite orders as needed.
- Conduct basic safety inspections, identify hazards, and lead by example on HSE practices.
- Support project closeout including document archival, warranty manuals, and systems commissioning sign-off.
Required Experience
- 8–10 years of operational experience in construction preferred.
- Construction trade certification, post-secondary diploma, or bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, and building materials.
- Advanced knowledge of construction law, building codes, and ASME piping codes.
- Ability to formulate and administer subcontracts and manage projects valued between $3M and $50M.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management platforms including Baseplate applications.
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
