Project Engineer (BESS)

Job Summary

Barton Malow is hiring a Project Engineer to support battery energy storage system projects from preconstruction through closeout. The role coordinates project teams, supports project controls, and helps maintain successful client and trade partner relationships.

Project Details

This travel-based position supports BESS projects across multiple locations and requires experience with industrial and data center construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project meetings, communication, mobilization, permitting, and closeout activities.
• Support procurement, bidding strategies, scope development, pre-bid meetings, and bid evaluations.
• Develop project schedules and monitor schedule compliance, team progress, and jobsite staffing.
• Track general conditions budgets, cash flow, project costs, and profitability.
• Assist the Superintendent with owner matters and subcontractor communication.
• Administer financial requirements for owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Coordinate personnel and resources while maintaining quality and contract compliance.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering.
• At least three years of relevant experience, including industrial project experience and relevant data center construction experience.
• Strong organization, contract knowledge, communication, management, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing processes, and oversee trade partner performance.
• Willingness and ability to travel as project needs require.
