Electrical Project Engineer Substation QAQC

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support quality assurance and quality control within its substation quality management group. This full-time, hybrid role focuses on reviewing engineering packages and advancing quality practices across utility infrastructure projects.

Project Details

The work centers on high-voltage substations, including physical design and protective relaying and control. The broader team supports substations, renewables integration, HVDC/FACTS/STATCOM, data center integration, and battery energy storage infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC reviews of substation design packages and support continuous improvement.
• Prepare engineering deliverables, calculations, recommendations, and project documentation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, clients, project managers, and external contributors.
• Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements while reviewing junior engineering work.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor developing professionals, and support project leadership and business development activities.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• At least five years of related engineering experience.
• Experience with high-voltage substation physical design and/or protection and controls.
• QA/QC review experience and the ability to coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $142,298-$237,640, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, paid time off, holidays, a company-matched 401(k), employee stock ownership, and potential performance-based bonuses. Relocation eligibility and hybrid work options are available.
