Project Manager 1 Federal

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Project Manager 1 to lead overall direction and administration for federal construction projects in Kansas City. This role partners closely with the Project Superintendent to deliver projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining strong relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Champion jobsite safety culture and lead incident investigations and retraining as needed.
• Support preconstruction activities including quantity takeoff, bid package development, and schedule creation.
• Lead buyout process — verify pricing, identify subcontractors, and manage subcontract issuance.
• Manage submittal schedules, shop drawing reviews, and coordination with the design team.
• Coordinate all project stakeholders including owners, subcontractors, vendors, and the field team.
• Prepare, submit, and obtain approval for owner change requests and monthly pay applications.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using Lean principles; manage labor, materials, and procurement logs.
• Prepare monthly cost and margin forecasts; monitor budget performance and report project status.
• Lead project closeout including punch lists, financials, subcontracts, and warranties.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and Lean process application.
• Advanced proficiency in project management and accounting software, construction technology, and scheduling software.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
