Project Manager, Industrial Water

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead industrial water, wastewater, and stormwater projects for heavy commercial and industrial clients. This is a full-time, employee-owned opportunity based in Overland Park, Kansas, with a hybrid work environment available after 90 days.

Project Details

The role sits within B&V's Industrial Water solution group, which delivers lifecycle water and wastewater projects for industrial and heavy commercial clients — including data centers and other large-scale industrial facilities — balancing sustainability, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development efforts including strategy, proposal preparation, client presentations, and contracting.
• Manage client relationships and promote Black & Veatch through client and community engagement.
• Oversee engineering managers and project teams, setting performance goals and ensuring accountability.
• Handle commercial management of projects including budgeting, invoicing, payments, and performance reviews.
• Mentor and develop staff, recommend training and promotions, and help identify new talent for the team.

Required Experience

• 15+ years of active water/wastewater experience with demonstrated industrial sector expertise preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Strong understanding of budgets, financial metrics, and contract negotiation including terms, risks, and pricing.
