Project Manager Underground Transmission

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is hiring a Project Manager to lead underground and overhead high-voltage transmission line projects, with additional potential scope in substations, distribution, private networks, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This is a full-time, staff position based in Overland Park, Kansas with 25% travel to project sites.

Project Details

Work spans HV underground and overhead transmission lines within the electric grid space, including both innovative and proven technologies. The broader team focuses on advanced manufacturing, data centers, gigafactories, and distributed infrastructure clients.

Responsibilities

• Promote and model a strong safety culture across the project team.
• Respond to RFPs and prepare proposals for services and EPC work.
• Lead project teams through conceptual design and procurement phases.
• Manage schedule, budget, and scope across EPC and services projects.
• Serve as the primary interface between clients, external stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Work effectively in both corporate office and field environments.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of relevant industry experience preferred.
• Experience with overhead and/or underground transmission line projects.
• Exposure to multiple phases of project execution.
• PE, P.Eng, or equivalent professional engineering license preferred.
