Job Summary

Black & Veatch is hiring a field-based Safety & Health Manager to oversee safety and health operations for a solar construction project in Bridge City, Texas. This mid-level role supports a moderately complex project and may supervise other safety professionals.

Project Details

The position supports field construction activities for a solar project in Bridge City, including contractor safety administration and coordination with clients and government officials.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain project safety, health, substance-abuse, security, and workers’ compensation programs.
• Deliver safety and health training and conduct detailed site inspections.
• Investigate incidents and injuries, prepare reports, and maintain required project records.
• Administer contractor safety programs and interface with client and government representatives.
• Provide first-aid or medical support when required.
• Supervise, train, develop, and manage performance for assigned safety personnel.

Required Experience

• At least five years of safety and health experience.
• Three or more years in a construction environment preferred.
• Safety and health certification or a bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards, substance-abuse and workers’ compensation procedures, contract administration, and safety consultation.
• Strong reporting, communication, conflict-management, and computer skills.
• Ability to work outdoors and in physically demanding conditions, including climbing, awkward positions, uneven terrain, and temperature extremes.
