Safety Specialist 2

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist 2 in Charlotte to coordinate and implement field safety programs on routine and increasingly complex construction projects. The role reports through the safety organization and offers a path toward Senior Safety Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Inspect jobsites, conduct safety audits, document hazards, and track corrective actions through company safety systems.
• Support new-hire orientations, drug and alcohol policy compliance, safety meetings, committees, and incentive programs.
• Monitor prime contractor and subcontractor safety performance and provide project-specific guidance.
• Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, injury coordination, treatment follow-up, and return-to-work reporting.
• Use safety data and internal tools to identify trends, recommend mitigation measures, and support insurance audits.
• Provide training on basic and intermediate safety topics and help oversee complex or multiple projects.

Required Experience

• At least two years of construction safety experience.
• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, local, and company safety requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, construction technology, and safety management software.
• Ability to recognize hazards, implement corrective actions, communicate effectively, and collaborate with project teams.
