Job Summary
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a senior geotechnical engineer for its Bellevue, Washington office. The role supports multidisciplinary design-build pursuits and active projects in the ports and marine infrastructure market.
Project Details
The position contributes to marine and transportation infrastructure design, including docking structures, pile-supported facilities, underwater slope stability evaluations, seismic ground response, and construction-phase engineering services.
Responsibilities
- Develop and advance geotechnical concepts from pursuit-stage designs through issued-for-construction documents.
- Direct interdisciplinary engineers and design subcontractors in preparing practical, competitive solutions.
- Identify design risks during bids and help develop mitigation strategies.
- Oversee engineering support and field reviews during construction.
- Share lessons learned and mentor developing geotechnical engineers.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil or geological engineering; a graduate degree in geotechnical engineering is preferred.
- Professional Engineer registration, or eligibility for registration in the home office state or province.
- At least 15 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, including 10 or more years on ports and marine infrastructure.
- Experience with combi-walls, sheet pile walls, tangent walls, cellular structures, underwater slope stability, and driven, drilled, and rock-socketed piles.
- Experience with seismic ground response analysis and finite element software such as PLAXIS 2-D, PLAXIS 3-D, or FLAC.
- Design-build or EPC experience is preferred. Qualified geologist or geomorphologist credentials and experience with AI tools are additional advantages.
- Ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, access construction sites, and travel to project locations.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary is $175,000-$235,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.
