Job Summary
JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior ME Engineer to provide technical leadership for mechanical, electrical, piping, and fire protection systems on power-sector projects. The role supports practical, high-quality execution from preconstruction through installation, testing, and commissioning while helping expand the company’s power-generation capabilities.
Project Details
The position focuses on major power generation work, including natural gas and thermal power systems delivered through EPC contracts. Responsibilities span electrical, mechanical, process piping, plumbing, and fire protection scopes.
Responsibilities
- Lead MEPFP system coordination and delivery across project phases.
- Support estimating, bid analysis, scheduling, constructability, quality control, subcontractor negotiations, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with project teams, field leaders, designers, manufacturers, and trade partners to resolve technical and installation challenges.
- Develop system sequencing, commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional testing procedures.
- Review design documents and shop drawings, conduct inspections, verify testing, and close commissioning deficiencies.
- Build and mentor a team of M/E engineers while improving technical standards, tools, and processes.
- Participate in interviews, presentations, business development, and efforts to secure future work.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- 10 or more years of construction management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing major power generation projects and strong knowledge of natural gas and thermal power systems.
- Expertise with EPC delivery, risk management, construction technology, scheduling, budgets, GMP or hard bids, and Lean practices.
- Ability to read plans, drawings, and specifications and to execute complex MEPFP construction and commissioning activities.
- Established relationships with key power-sector stakeholders and a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
