Job Summary

PCL Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the preconstruction phase of a water/wastewater civil project in Long Beach. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a background in contracts, financial forecasting, and scheduling, and brings prior water/wastewater or preconstruction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and manage contract progress, reporting, and change management.
  • Administer complex subcontracts, including defining scope, responding to inquiries, and tracking progress.
  • Review contract obligations and assist the site manager with project start-up activities.
  • Evaluate subcontractor submittals for compliance with scope, design documents, and multi-discipline coordination.
  • Support design-team site inspections, identify installation deficiencies, and witness systems commissioning sign-offs.
  • Identify and flag potential project risks across scopes and site conditions.

Required Experience

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture preferred — or equivalent field experience.
  • 4–6 years of construction experience in an operational role.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment, drawings and specifications, HSE standards, quality, and building materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage schedules at a comprehensive level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable adopting new construction technology platforms.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with proven multitasking and organizational ability.

  • Estimated salary range: $101,500–$125,500 based on experience.
