Senior Project Engineer Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to manage a small project or a significant component of a larger, more complex commercial construction project in Kansas City. This role sits on a career path toward Project Manager and operates with guided autonomy on assigned scopes.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts for the base project, self-perform work, and change requests; establish scopes and select subcontractors and vendors.
• Manage the submittal process, procurement logs, shop drawing tracking, and material deliveries in alignment with the project schedule.
• Prepare and manage project schedules for assigned portions of the work, and analyze production statistics for key components.
• Coordinate and lead pre-planning, post-construction, OAC, and monthly project review meetings.
• Review and approve monthly subcontractor and vendor pay applications.
• Oversee project closeout including punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and inspection scheduling.
• Monitor safety, quality, and Lean practices on site; mentor junior team members and provide training.
• Support project setup and administration in CMiC and other company technologies.

Required Experience

• 3+ years of construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
• Proficiency in MS Office, project management and accounting software, and construction technology platforms.
• Working knowledge of Lean process philosophy, self-perform labor productivity, and construction means and methods.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with subcontractors, tradespeople, and project team members.
