Senior Project Engineer Federal Projects

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support federal projects, managing a small project or a defined component of a larger, more complex project under supervision. The role sits on the career path toward Project Manager and operates within JE Dunn's established processes, tools, and values.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimate preparation for base project work, self-perform scopes, and change requests; establish scopes and identify subcontractors.
• Manage the submittal process and maintain alignment with the project schedule.
• Prepare, track, and report production statistics, daily reports, weekly progress reports, manpower logs, and equipment tracking.
• Coordinate purchase orders and monitor timing and delivery of materials.
• Support job set-up and project administration in CMiC and other company platforms.
• Lead project closeout including punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and inspection scheduling.
• Coordinate pre-planning, OAC, monthly review, and post-construction meetings.
• Review and approve monthly subcontractor and vendor pay applications.
• Identify and develop self-perform opportunities and implement Lean practices.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior team members.

Required Experience

• 3+ years of construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
• Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, and construction technology.
• Knowledge of Lean construction principles, means and methods, and self-perform labor productivity.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build cross-functional relationships.
