Senior Superintendent II - Massive Grading

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a Senior Superintendent II to oversee field teams and construction activities on large, complex projects, with a focus on massive grading work.

Project Details

The role requires experience with massive grading on extremely large projects; residential and commercial projects are generally not considered large enough.

Responsibilities

• Direct construction activities, assign tasks, and supervise crews across the project site.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, and inspections with project teams to support schedules.
• Partner with project managers on budgets, forecasts, labor, equipment, and materials.
• Review construction documents, coordinate design questions with engineers, and maintain project schedules and look-ahead plans.
• Lead preconstruction planning, site meetings, logistics, crew planning, and site utilization.
• Coach and develop field personnel, support hiring and performance management, and promote teamwork.
• Implement the site safety program and maintain relationships with customers, subcontractors, and other visitors.

Required Experience

• Massive grading experience on extremely large projects.
• Extensive estimating and scheduling experience.
• At least 12 years of construction management or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management, or 10 years of trade experience.
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%.
• Working knowledge of construction law, business practices, and equal employment opportunity principles.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $164,300–$246,500, with location-based increases for certain offices, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
