Job Summary

Kiewit Mining Group is seeking a Safety Manager to lead project-level safety execution in Soda Springs, Idaho. The role supports a strong safety culture and ensures field work complies with project plans, client expectations, company standards, and applicable regulations.

Project Details

Kiewit’s Mining District delivers mine management, production, infrastructure construction, maintenance, and related mining services across North America. The position may require relocation to follow available work and can involve changing site conditions and climates.

Responsibilities

  • Administer project safety programs and support implementation of the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, machinery, and work areas; identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
  • Coach employees and craft personnel on safe work practices and promote field ownership of the safety program.
  • Coordinate safety training, maintain training and incident records, and support MSHA compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations, communicate lessons learned, and implement effective solutions.
  • Review work plans and work packages before work begins and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.
  • Coordinate with emergency medical providers and interact with MSHA and state inspectors.

Required Experience

  • Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related field; five or more years as a safety manager may substitute.
  • At least five years managing safety on mining or construction projects.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA requirements, hazard recognition, recordkeeping, and injury management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, strong communication skills, organization, and independent problem-solving ability.
  • CSP and CHST are preferred; CPR/First Aid, EMT, and OSHA/MSHA instructor credentials are also preferred.
  • Ability to access active construction areas, work variable hours including overtime and weekends, and relocate as required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $107,189-$164,613, subject to education, experience, skills, and location. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
