Sr Wastewater Process Engineer

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Wastewater Process Engineer in Phoenix to serve as a technical lead for conventional and emerging wastewater treatment solutions. The position supports complex infrastructure projects, technical delivery, client service, and development of engineering staff.

Project Details

Projects focus on municipal wastewater treatment and may involve activated sludge, biological nutrient removal, fixed-film systems, membrane bioreactors, sidestream treatment, tertiary filtration, disinfection, and other conventional or advanced processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare process models, mass-balance calculations, design criteria, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, tradeoff studies, and master planning documents.
• Evaluate treatment processes, equipment, and materials using research, pilot testing, full-scale data, and engineering calculations.
• Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary project teams and supervise or mentor engineering staff.
• Support client development, proposals, interviews, conferences, and technical presentations.
• Manage engineering resources, coordinate project participants, and support quality and continuous-improvement programs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program and at least 11 years of related experience.
• Preferred background includes 10 years in wastewater treatment, including at least 5 years in water quality and treatment.
• Advanced knowledge of municipal wastewater process design, engineering standards, regulatory considerations, and treatment evaluations.
• Experience with BioWin, GPS-X, Sumo, and/or Simba process simulators is preferred.
• Professional Engineer license in a U.S. state, or the ability to obtain one within two years, is required.
• Strong consulting, project execution, client service, leadership, communication, and business-development capabilities are preferred.
