Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking an entry-level Structural Design Engineer to support power and infrastructure projects from concept development through construction. The role is based in Lenexa, Kansas, and focuses on safe, constructible engineering solutions within an EPC environment.

Project Details

The Power district delivers engineering and construction support for gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental retrofits, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and water/wastewater facilities across North America.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural concepts, analyses, calculations, drawings, and specifications for projects of varied size and complexity.
• Apply engineering and industry standards while incorporating EPC, client, and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate structural matters with internal disciplines, construction teams, vendors, fabricators, and owners.
• Help maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing forecasts.
• Research market opportunities, improve workflows, and support department performance objectives.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited program.
• Some master's coursework and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 are preferred.
• Zero to two years of structural design experience in the power or industrial sector is preferred.
• Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and standard computer applications.
• Familiarity with SAP2000, SAFE, SpMats, and MathCAD is preferred.
• Reliable attendance, professional communication, deadline management, and safe work practices are required.
