Job Summary

Barton Malow Builders is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations and coordinate project teams and contractors in Richmond, Virginia. The role is focused on delivering quality work in accordance with project plans and specifications.

Project Details

This position requires experience with healthcare construction projects and involves coordinating multiple trades and contractors on an active commercial jobsite.

Responsibilities

• Support scope development, bidding activities, contractor selection, and post-bid coordination.
• Enforce company safety procedures, lead pre-task planning, and maintain field safety compliance.
• Organize and supervise the daily site labor force.
• Coordinate contractor sequencing to reduce trade conflicts and project interference.
• Assist with budget tracking, forecasting, cost control, and evaluation of contractor changes.
• Develop site logistics plans that support productivity and limit disruption to building occupants.

Required Experience

• At least 8 years of direct project and trade supervision experience.
• Four-year technical or engineering degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Required healthcare construction market experience.
• Strong communication skills with contractors, architects, owners, and internal project teams.
• Ability to negotiate and manage conflicts professionally.
• Working knowledge of construction methods, performance standards, environmental requirements, and workplace safety.
