Job Summary

PCL Construction is seeking an Underground Piping Superintendent in San Diego to lead field operations for complex civil construction work. The role oversees crews and trade partners while coordinating safety, quality, schedule, materials, documentation, and project execution.

Project Details

The work centers on underground piping and electrical duct bank construction, including pipe installations ranging from 6 to 84 inches in diameter. Experience with water or wastewater treatment plants is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and mentor project teams, craft workers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Coordinate installation activities, productivity, quality, safety, and daily reporting.
  • Develop project execution plans, resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules, critical-path schedules, and constructability solutions.
  • Manage work interfaces, schedule conflicts, project documentation, contract requirements, costs, and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, estimators, clients, consultants, labor representatives, and other site stakeholders.
  • Lead site meetings and maintain effective customer and stakeholder relationships.

Required Experience

  • Journeyman certification or a related undergraduate or engineering degree.
  • NCSO designation required; Gold Seal program enrollment preferred.
  • Approximately 10 years of progressive field supervision experience preferred, including successful construction workforce supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, specifications, safety and environmental practices, contracts, productivity, labor cost reporting, and project scheduling.
  • Experience coordinating multiple scopes and trade contractors using three-week lookahead schedules.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and internal operational systems, plus demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated salary is $129,000-$167,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
