Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction — ranked #2 by ENR for Correctional Facilities Construction — is seeking a Traveling General Superintendent to oversee courthouse and corrections facility projects across the United States. This senior field leadership role manages the largest and most complex justice projects from initial planning through closeout.

Project Details

Projects consist of courthouses and corrections facilities of significant scale and complexity, spanning multiple sites nationwide. The General Superintendent may oversee several project teams simultaneously as part of JE Dunn's growing Justice portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all field operations and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and company staff across large, complex justice projects.
  • Develop, manage, and adjust project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Champion safety culture, investigate incidents, and mentor staff toward an injury-free environment.
  • Coordinate and lead daily standups, weekly trade meetings, and owner/architect/contractor (OAC) progress meetings.
  • Monitor project budgets and costs using project management systems and cost reports.
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and pre-punch closeout activities.
  • Manage material, equipment, and self-perform work plans including labor productivity and cost management.
  • Support strategic initiatives, contribute to company training content, and develop internal subject matter experts.
  • Identify and recruit top field talent; promote diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.

Required Experience

  • 12+ years of construction experience, including 10+ years in field supervision.
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple large or complex Justice/Corrections construction projects preferred.
  • Experience applying Lean principles on construction projects preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in JE Dunn construction technology, scheduling software, and project management systems.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
