Job Summary
JE Dunn Construction — ranked #2 by ENR for Correctional Facilities — is hiring a Traveling Superintendent 2 to help build courthouses and corrections facilities across the United States. This is a traveling role supporting JE Dunn's growing Justice portfolio, with projects ranging from moderately complex stand-alone jobs to major portions of large-scale programs.
Project Details
Projects consist of courthouses and corrections facilities nationwide, carried out for JE Dunn's Justice division clients. The role involves managing subcontractors, self-perform work, scheduling, safety, and quality across the full project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Champion the company's safety culture and lead by example to maintain an injury-free jobsite.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and company field staff on assigned project or project portion.
- Create, update, and implement the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Run daily standup and weekly trade meetings; participate in OAC and project review meetings.
- Track material and equipment needs; support MOC and logistics procurement processes.
- Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC programs, and outside resources.
- Complete daily reports, logs, unit cost entries, and timecard approvals accurately.
- Identify and manage project risks and partner with the team on change negotiations.
- Support project closeout through pre-punch supervision and coordination with the owner and architect.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of construction experience, including 3+ years of field supervision.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
- Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, and scheduling software.
- Ability to apply Lean construction principles.
- Prior experience on large or complex Justice or Corrections projects preferred.
- Must be willing to travel, relocate, and work non-traditional hours as project needs dictate.
