Job Summary

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is hiring a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to support transportation and other construction projects from its Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey or New York, New York office. The role works with multidisciplinary design and construction teams throughout estimating, design, and construction.

Project Details

The geotechnical group supports design-build, alternative delivery, EPC, and traditional bid-build work across the United States. Assignments include temporary works, foundations, retaining systems, excavation support, slope stability, dewatering, ground improvement, and construction engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical analyses and develop calculations, drawings, design memorandums, and construction documents.
  • Support proposal and bid efforts by evaluating design alternatives, identifying geotechnical risks, and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and coordinate designs with structural, civil, drainage, materials, estimating, scheduling, and field teams.
  • Review technical work and help train and develop staff engineers.

Required Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in geotechnical engineering or a related field.
  • At least five years of relevant U.S. geotechnical engineering experience on construction projects.
  • U.S. Professional Engineer registration is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of foundation design, slope stability, seismic engineering, retaining walls, earth retention, rock mechanics, settlement, ground improvement, excavation support, and dewatering.
  • Experience with cofferdams and support of excavation is required; EPC or design-build experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interdisciplinary coordination, teamwork, and technical review skills, along with the ability to access active construction sites in varied conditions.

Compensation and Benefits
